Practical suggestions and sage advice on cultivating and continuing to grow your leadership potential from this month’s Leadership Stories Podcast interview with Jane Morgan, Director of Jane Morgan Consulting.
  1. Don’t’ isolate yourself. You can not be a leader alone.
  2. If you want to change things and influence others in a way that creates positive change, you have to learn how to have a voice in connection with others.
  3. To create change, start by analysing the system. Involve others, one person can not work it all out alone. Look for leverage points and remember that change is completely possible, and you will have to experiment. And then experiment, experiment, and keep experimenting.
  4. There will be times when you need to walk away and say to yourself now is not the right time. Try again at another time.
  5. Remember, everyday provides opportunities to grow and expand your work and yourself. Do not miss these opportunities, allow yourself to be hopeful for the future.
  6. You are not there to just look after others. You also need to look after yourself and create relationships that nurture and support you so that the care you give others comes back to you. Foster relationships where you are appreciated as a whole person and being who you are. Your strengths and your flaws. Relationships that are strong enough to reflect back to you that you have gone off the rails when you do.
  7. Where you can work for people you admire, people who bring their full capacity to their role and who will encourage and support you to do the same.
  8. As a leader you are never going to be perfect. It is about learning to stand out and to have a voice in the world that assists your purpose and your focus that connects to the people around you.
