Embracing your edge

Do you hear the call?  

The call to embrace your edge. You may well ask what is the edge? And why would I want to embrace it?

Here are a few things to consider:

The edge is where we find ourselves confronting our moments of greatest challenge. It is often where we feel like we’ve lost control and where we find our old ways of responding no longer work.  In this year, where we find ourselves being challenged as never before, our edge and the edge for our clients is being exposed as never before. The key question for us in this time of profound change is how do we continue to turn up and partner with clients in thought provoking and creative ways that support them to do the same?

At the edge, the temptation is to step back into old limited ways of responding because they feel safe and familiar and at the same time we are being challenged by set-backs, perceived failures, uncertainty and false starts.

How we respond to these challenges is critical and it is always a choice.  These challenges, I believe, are developmental thresholds that represent, if we choose to engage with them,  turning points in our lives. The challenges and setbacks we encounter, as difficult as they may be, are opportunities for growth, for lifting our capacity to the next level, for becoming more of who we truly are and what we are capable of becoming.

​However this all depends on whether or not  If we are up for the challenge and willing to do the work. If we are willing to embrace the challenges and setbacks we’re experiencing, we can expand what is possible for us and what we are able to offer others.  It all comes down to your willingness to embrace your edge.

Next time you hear that call “come to the edge”, and you surely will for we all hear that call to grow and evolve, remember: this is a moment of choice about who you want to be, what you stand for and how you will translate these decisions into action. The choices you make are important, powerful and transformative.
It is here at the edge that the journey, the learning, and the adventure truly begins.
