Inspiration, Invitations, Illuminations
A note on inspiration
“Do not choose the lesser life. do you hear me. do you hear me. choose the life that is. yours. the life that is seducing your lungs. that is dripping down your chin.”
~ Nayyirah Wahee Inspiration is a source of energy you can tap into that can fuel new knowledge and new ways of seeing the world which in turn has the potential to revolutionise how you see and respond to things. Inspiration is synonymous with creativity, inventiveness, innovation, and ingenuity and is often the perfect antidote to feeling lack luster, stressed or overwhelmed. Interestingly inspiration also refers to “breathing in” and as such creates an image of creative inspiration flowing into our lives as simply and surely as the air we breathe. You could say that inspiration is only ever a breath away. There are of course many ways of finding inspiration and weaving it into our lives as a regular practice. We can, for example, find ways to open ourselves to nature, to other people, to books, music, art, dance, or movement. Or we can simply practice cultivating more curiosity, asking more questions, and keeping an open mind. It doesn’t have to be something that changes your whole life in an instant, although it can be. Inspiration can simply be everyday experiences that help you remember and rediscover what makes life precious for you, and something that restores and renews you. Ultimately inspiration is personal, something that fuels you and sustains your personal connection with life, something that illuminates and provides new insights, a sense of joy, a sense of peace and goodwill, and a greater sense of aliveness. |
